Just got back from the post office. Sent off copies of transcript that the registrar at the University of Maryland sent me in 2002 and the letter saying that they couldn't find any record of me. Sometimes it's good to hang on to those things.
I'm ashamed to say that this minor blip nearly bumped me off the track. The "Oh, fuck it!" gremlins were chanting their siren song, but I gave myself a stern talking to. Today, everything is in the mail. Even though it sets me back a term, I'm not going to obsess about it. Shit happens. Adapt and move on.
A lot of the reason that little things can derail me is that I've had a pretty easy life. School came easily to me. I hovered around the fringes of the popular kids and was content. Things tend to fall into place for me. Which is great, but when things don't flow--BLEARGH. I freak out a little. It's something that I'm not proud of, and fighting smug complacency is boring. But it's necessary.
Fingers are crossed that the University of Maryland comes through.
And now, laundry.
Middle-aged woman goes back to finish her degree and, eventually, get her masters. Hilarity ensues.

Photocopies
Mr.X photocopied my old transcripts and the letter that the University of Maryland sent. He also made a .pdf copy of both so I could send it off to the UofMD registrar.
Now to get the hard copies mailed, along with a check. Of course, this means that I won't be able to start school this term. Ass monkeys.

Small Setback
Got a letter today from the University of Maryland saying that they couldn't find my transcripts. Weird, because they sent them to me and PCC in 2002. I am glad, because the copy I got is still in my files. Pissed off because I've got to make a copy of the transcripts that they sent to me, send it back to Maryland, wait again for them to find them, then they've got to send them back to WSU.
I was so hoping to get in this term. It's not looking good.
Grrr.

A Letter
Saturday, a letter came from WSU. Excited, and a little confused, I ripped open the envelope.
It was just a letter saying that they'd gotten my application and they're waiting on my transcripts from Santa Monica College and the University of Maryland.
*sigh*
Getting in isn't my worry. With any luck, the whole decide-y part will go quickly and smoothly. That will give me some time to meet with an academic advisor and design my course work. I hope that the advisor I get is a good one. *fingers crossed*

The Waiting
Now comes the difficult part; the waiting. The admissions advisor said that the process took about six weeks. That's if everything comes together.
Please let the various colleges I've attended be on the ball for sending out official transcripts. I hope that the admissions committee takes a lenient view and allows most of my previous credits through.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out which math class I can take to satisfy the one more math requirement. I mean, cheeses, more math...for an anthropology degree? I suppose I could befuddle myself completely and see if a statistics class will satisfy the requirement. But that's all dependent on my getting into school.

Application: Done
Application to WSU filled out, application fee enclosed, and mailed. Transcripts requested from Santa Monica College and the University of Maryland, with appropriate fees and directions to send them to WSU, also mailed.
I was so excited that I "stole" Beloved Husband's car and took them to the post office. I took the Netflix DVD that we'd just watched too--because I am a good and virtuous woman. *koff*
With any luck, everything will come together and I can start with the coming fall term.

The Application
This is my reminder to myself to actually start the application process. No more putting it off, damnit.
